PALM
NDT inspections of circumferential butt welds are a complex task. This type of joint is found in various structures including small-diameter tubes in boilers. Experts inspect these to find defects which could result in the failure of a component, possibly inducing a human or environmental hazard.
The Inspection Robotics PALM Scanner is a compact, lightweight and robust tool that uses ultrasonic phased array technology to reliably, efficiently and safely inspect the weld integrity of small diameter tube racks with clearance as narrow as 12 mm.

The set up time for an inspection is less than one minute. The PALM Scanner comes in one piece, ready for inspection. Scanner assembly and adaptation to a specific diameter is not required.
Safety
New or repaired welds are usually inspected by radiography (RT). The technology requires the evacuation of the workers on site, as well as considerable time for developing the RT films.
High Productivity
Inspecting welds by Phased Array means immediate results for the operator. Welder & inspector work back to back during the job. Repair or exchange decisions can be made on the spot.
