To overcome geometric constraints the encoders are available in a flat or low diameter version.
Many tasks – both on operational as well as in development – require small and robust (IP54+) encoders. Standard off-the-shelf encoders are either too big and/or not robust enough. Until now they are either sealed which make them expensive and not service friendly or they are packed into an additional space consuming housing. In addition the cable which typically breaks first is not very robust on standard encoders.
How it works
Based on explicit magnetic encoder chips available since a few years Inspection Robotics has developed implicitly robust and sealed encoder units. The basis is a rotating magnet which is not harmed by water or dust ingression. In a separate unit sits the sensor chip which forms one integrated and sealed part with the cable or connector.
The encoders are used in almost any product from Inspection Robotics and also by many customers in their in their inspection devices.
2 form factors
As not all geometric requirements can be met with one single encoder unit, we offer 2 different encoder types:
- Axial: low diameter, but longer
- Flat: very slim, but larger diameter, wheel is integrated part of the encoder
